Over 5500 potentially relevant journal articles are read every year. To accomplish this him or herself, a clinician would have to read 15 articles each and every day every year ... If the clinician only managed to read two articles every day, after two years, the clinician would have to have a 10-year backlog. After 20 years, the backlog would take over 100 years to read!

Getting started

If you want to contribute to this wiki its simple. 1. Create an account. 2. search in the uppermost search box for the subject. 3. if that page does not exists then click create it.

The most important things to think about here is to check if someone else has already started a page on your subject. If there is one its far easier to add and edit that than to start a new one that maybe deleted by an admin.

Next, is your post your own?

If you use quotes and other people's work in your submission then this information needs to be added to the article as a reference at the bottom of the page or beneath images. Often, academic work is usable under 'fair usage' without asking permission as long as you reference it properly. Images (if required) need to be public domain or you should ask permission to post them by the copyright owner, or simply create your own. If the article is about your transgender experience then it maybe better to post this in our forums in the blogs section. However if you wish to post photos of your surgery and the results with other guidance for the wiki here please ensure a warning at the top of the page is posted.

For example:

"Caution This page contains medical images of surgery and may not be suitable for some people". This is just plain courtesy, our aim is to 'educate communicate and inform' - not offend.

Posting can be done with plain text and a simple editor that is provided for your first attempts but there is plenty of help out there on how to post in wiki language and we recommend you pressing the link to the mother of all encyclopedias Wikipedia as their advice is very thorough and its pointless us trying to reproduce such a complete helpset in this area. Suffice it to say we use the exact same system so you should be fine. One last thing always proof-read you posts and correct any spelling errors - Firefox has a built in spell checker so this is worth having for this purpose | Firefox Browser Free.

To post simply register an account and click 'my talk' and then press 'create'. All posts will either record the login details or the IP address for anonymous entries. This is simply to prevent abuse and or block persistent offenders who breach the terms of the wiki principles.
